Our Tonala print was inspired by pottery design motifs from the village of Tonala near Guadalajara, Mexico. Artisans in Tonala craft unique burnished pottery that is formed, dried in the sun, brush painted, polished with stone or leather, and fired only once, creating a unique luster. This method for producing ceramic objects has persisted in a continuous form for at least a century. The unique earth-tone colors and organic floral style consisting of whimsical flowers and animals are part of the memorable ceramic tradition born in Tonala.
